St. Margaret of Scotland Parish

Lenten Renewal

St. Margaret of Scotland Parish hosted a Lenten Renewal with the theme Only Sinners Become Saints from March 29 to April 1, 2003, with Right Reverend Lambert Reilly, O.S.B., archabbot of St. Meinrad Archabbey in St. Meinrad, Indiana as the preacher.

Father Lambert was elected archabbot of St. Meinrad on June 2, 1995 by his Benedictine confreres. Born in Pittsburgh's West End, Father Lambert professed vows as a Benedictine monk in 1956 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1959.  For more than 30 years, he has given retreats and conducted parish missions throughout the nation.  He has also been a frequent retreat master for Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity in the United States and India.  Archabbot Lambert also taught Latin and education courses at St. Meinrad College, for the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Hamden, Connecticut, and Penn State University.  He has served as principal of St. Elizabeth High School in Pittsburgh and as a consultant to the Diocese of Peoria's Office of Education.  In 1997, he published a book, Because There is Jesus, a collection of homilies.

Father Lambert will be preaching at all the Masses the weekend of March 29th and 30th. The theme at the Vesper Service and talk on Sunday, March 30th at 7:00 p.m. is “You're a sinner, but so am I.” 

On Monday the theme is:   On Monday, March 31st at 7:00 p.m., the theme of the Penance Service is “My sin may invite yours.” There will be opportunity for individual confessions. 

The Renewal will close with a Mass and homily on Tuesday, April 1st, at 7:00 p.m. A reception will follow.
