A Message from the Pastor

Respect Life Month

“We are not some casual or meaningless product of evolution. Each of us is the result of a thought of God. Each of us is willed, each of us is loved, each of us is necessary.” These are the words of Pope Benedict XVI, taken from his inaugural homily as he speaks about the dignity of human life. October is Respect for Life Month, a month in which we reflect on God's priceless gift of human life. We acknowledge with gratitude the many blessing we enjoy as creatures made in the image of God.

As Catholics, we know that the truth of human life is infinitely greater than any narrow view that rationalizes that some lives are meaningless and therefore disposable.

The truth that human life has a purpose, given by its Creator, has been a bedrock of western civilization. This conviction is rooted in our country's founding documents. God's creative and sustaining love for every human being is the one sure source of human dignity and freedom. His love for us is the fundamental reason why every human life must be valued and defended. It is not possible to maintain a community of justice, freedom and solidarity, but on any other foundation.

October, Month of the Rosary

To honor, Mary our Mother, Catholics traditionally pray the Rosary during the month of October. The rosary is prayed before the 8:00 am Mass every Sunday. Please join us for the recitation of the rosary as we pray for Mary's intercession in our efforts to secure peace at home and abroad. Come and receive the graces from this powerful prayer tradition.
