The first four weeks of school are over! The students will attend an All-School-Mass on Friday.
I recently received a check for $496.12 from Target's “Take Charge of Education” program. “Take Charge of Education” donations are accumulated when people use their REDcard to make purchases and designate our school to receive 1% of the purchase. I am able to use the money for whatever I need in the school! Thank you to everyone who has been using this program. For more information on the program visit Target.com/tcoe.

Boys in grades first through fifth who are interested in joining (or adults), and for those who would like to purchase Trail End Popcorn, call Coreen at 412-459-0114 or Joe at 412-922-2391.
The flowers at the foot of the Altar are given in loving memory of Thomas Poliziani, from his family.
The Church has provided a special Rite for young children of our parish. Children attend Mass with their families and after the Greeting they process out to another area to hear and discuss the readings for that Sunday. After the celebrant's homily, they return to the church proper and sit with their families for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. They are still considered, along with the adult facilitators, to be attending a valid Mass.
In order to celebrate the Liturgy of the Word with children, we need volunteers. Preparation is minimal, resources and training will be provided. Please call the Religious Education office (412-921-1613) if you are able to help one Sunday a month at the 10:00 am or 12:15 pm Mass.
Sunday, October 3, 2010 is National Life Chain Sunday. It is a silent prayerful demonstration where participants hold signs having to do with the sanctity of human life. It is one way to show support for the value of human life before and after birth and lasts for just one hour, from 1:30 to 2:30 pm. In Green Tree the location is Greentree Road at Mansfield Avenue. We stand on the sidewalk. All you have to do is show up. Signs will be provided. For further information, call Kathleen Weaver at 412-860-1132 or 412-531-9272.

“:Co-Responsible for Communion and Mission”: is the theme of a convocation for all priests of the Diocese of Pittsburgh - including me, beginning September 27, 2010 and concluding Thursday, September 30, 2010. The convocation to be held at Oglebay Conference and Resort Center, Wheeling, West Virginia, is an opportunity for priests to join with Bishop David A. Zubik for spiritual renewal, pastoral and professional development and priestly fraternity.
The following Mass arrangements have been made for St. Margaret for the days that I will be at the convocation.
Monday, September 27 at 9:00 am
Tuesday, September 28 at 9:00 am
Wednesday, September 29 at 9:30 am (note time change)
Thursday, September 30 at 9:00 am
Should you need a priest for an emergency, please telephone 412-921-0745.
Your prayers for the success of this gathering are very important. We ask that you offer the following prayer in anticipation and during the convocation of diocesan priests.
Bless Bishop Zubik and all our priests as they begin the triennial multi-day convocation. Open their hearts and minds to the important theme they are reflecting upon. Advance our priests' appreciation for the communion between laity and priests, and deepen our unity in service to the Church's mission of reconciliation. Help these, our brothers in Christ, to cherish their time away together in the peaceful and pastoral setting of Oglebay, West Virginia.
God our Father, we ask you to bless our priests and confirm them in their calling. Give them the gifts they need to continue to respond with generosity and joyful heart.
We offer this prayer for our priest through Christ our Lord. Amen.
