Annual Blood Drive

Our Annual Blood Drive is this Sunday (July 18) in the school cafeteria from 8:00 am until 1:30 pm. Everyday is a challenge to see enough blood donors to meet local needs. If you think, “others are donating” you are wrong. Although 50% of the population is eligible to donated, only about 5% actually do. Donors are needed everyday to maintain our regional blood supplies. If you have not scheduled an appointment you can show up at the school cafeteria between the above listed hours.

If you are a couple celebrating your 50th Wedding Anniversary any time during 2010 and would like an invitation to attend this joyous event, please call the Parish Office (412-921-0745 ext 8) or drop a note in the collection basket no later than August 8, 2010.

...

A friend was in front of me coming out of church one day,
and the priest was standing at the door as he always is shaking hands.
He grabbed my friend by the hand and pulled him aside.
The priest said to him, “You need to join the Army of the Lord!”
My friend replied, “I'm already in the Army of the Lord, Father.”
The priest questions, “How come I don't see you except at Christmas an Easter.”
He whispered back, “I'm in the Secret Service.”

Also, the environmental non-profit organization, Friends of the Pittsburgh Urban Forest, which is dedicated to enhancing the City's vitality by restoring and protecting our urban trees will utilize volunteers to help plant trees throughout Pittsburgh.
