St. Margaret of Scotland Parish
Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Please take time today to say a prayer for all of our fathers, living or deceased! They hold a special place in all of our hearts.
A big Thank You to the multitude of people who worked last week to make the Festival the success it was. It was so great to see the smiling faces of all of the parishioners spending time together. The nights flew by (okay- we lost power, it rained, we were soaked…..) but, if you were there those nights everyone just had FUN! So to the committee, volunteers and St. Margaret community, a Job Well Done!

Our refreshments in July will be provided by the Women's Guild.
Can we borrow some items for VBS? We need to borrow the following items: fishing nets, clean sand, small hard plastic wading pool, a row boat, and an anchor. Some things we need donated are: gallon zip lock bags, strawberry or blueberry baskets (with holes in them to use as a strainer to find shells), clippings of Grape Ivy, Pothos, Wandering Jew plants (or any plants that can be started in water), plastic tops from margarine tubs, cool whip tubs, and cottage or ricotta cheese tubs. Thank you for helping.
As a Service Project Vacation Bible School will gather school supplies (pencils, erasers, crayons, markers, glue stick, rulers, etc.) and assemble school “kits” in gallon plastic bags. These will be given to children in need. Anyone in the Parish who would like to help with this project is welcomed to join in.
Baptism class for parents of children to be baptized will be Sunday, July 18 after the 12:15 pm Mass. Please call to register (412-921-1613.)

Father Joseph Juknialis, a priest of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, shares this Father's Day Reflection:
My father was a better father than I was a son. He worked hard, worried hard and put up with me hard. And as I look back on it now, I willingly took it all in.
By the time I was eighteen, it was I who worked hard, mostly to keep my father at a distance, as sons so often do, because then I thought I had to find my own way through life, make my own mistakes and ford life's rivers with my own boat. So when he asked how things were going, I said, “Fine.” And how was school? “Oh, school was school.” And my friends? “Hadn't seen 'em.”
It was probably true for most of us. Our fathers were better fathers than we were ever sons or daughters. And yet by some strange turn of grace we grew into people who have learned how to love, though often enough imperfectly, and into people who do suffer for others, though not without an occasional grimace or silent cringe.
Yet none of that happens very cleanly. It's messy and confusing, and often enough, cluttered with our own sin, and consequently with someone's forgiveness. Nevertheless, it is how King David's heart was turned, because he had been forgiven much. And it is how Mary Magdalene became an extravagant lover, because she was forgiven much. And it is how fathers and mothers teach us how to love, because we come to know their forgiveness. It's all an image of our God's forgiveness that Jesus came to proclaim, and so our hearts are moved to love.
As we celebrate Father's Day, we ask God to Bless our Dads and we thank them for showing us the way to our merciful Father in heaven.
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY, DAD!
