School News

May Crowning

Our week begins with our annual May Crowning on Monday at 2:00 pm in the Church. What a wonderful way to begin the month! The students enjoy honoring Mary in this very special way. A big thank you goes out to Mrs. Iacchetti and the eighth graders for organizing this for us.

All-School Mass

On Friday the students will attend an All-School Mass to celebrate the 2nd and 8th graders at our Sacramental Mass. Mrs. Iacchetti, Mrs. Hackett, and Miss Gerrity have worked hard preparing these students for the Sacraments this year.

Animal Friends

On Thursday we will be visited by the people of “Animal Friends.“ They will be bringing some of their “furry friends!” I am sure the students will enjoy this visit!

Kindergarten Mothers

In anticipation of Mother's Day, the Kindergarten students will entertain their mothers with a snack on Friday at 1:00 pm in their classrooms!

Thank you

The South West Food Pantry graciously thanks St. Margaret Cub Scout Pack 202 for the overwhelming amount of food that was collected for the “Scouting for Food Project.” In these current times of difficulty it is heartwarming to witness the generosity of many who helped put food on the table of those who are struggling.  Our thanks and praise to the scouts, leaders, parents and all who worked hard to make this project so successful.

Holy Name Society

The meeting for the Holy Name Society scheduled for May 2, 2010 has been canceled.

We want to give our children what we didn't have;

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the principal means by which the Church prepares adults for the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Communion. It is the process for you if you fit any of the following categories: un-baptized adult who wishes to become Catholic; adult baptized in a non-Catholic Church who now wishes to be Catholic; adult baptized as Catholic, but have not made their First Communion or Confirmation; un-baptized youth over 7 years of age who wish to be baptized; youth over 7 years of age baptized non-Catholic who now wish to become Catholic.

Many of the people who undergo RCIA describe it as a life changing event. Participants learn the foundation of the Christian faith and review the basics of the sacramental and moral life. They receive an introduction to prayer and worship. They have the support of sponsors, catechists and priests. For more information, call Judy Bentz at 412-921-1613.

A Message from the Pastor

Anointing of the Sick

Just a reminder that the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is available to anyone anticipating surgery or simply wanting the healing graces of this sacrament. Fr. Bud offers anointing each Sunday following the 8:00 am Mass.

Because hospital stays are often very brief, it is a good practice to be anointed before you are scheduled to be admitted to the hospital.

May, Month of the Rosary

To honor, Mary our Mother, Catholics traditionally pray the rosary during the month of May. The rosary is prayed before the 8:00 am Mass every Sunday. Please join us for the recitation of the rosary as we pray for Mary's intercession in our efforts to secure peace at home and abroad. Come and receive the graces from this powerful prayer tradition.

“Run for Nuns” - Pittsburgh Marathon Charity

A group of Pittsburgh clergy and seminarians will be running in the Pittsburgh Marathon this Sunday to raise money for several young women who have been accepted into different religious communities. If you would like to support this cause, you can donate online or make checks payable to “Run for Nuns” and mail your donations to “Run for Nuns”, St. Paul Seminary, 2900 Noblestown Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15205
