All families, nuclear, single parent, blended, extended, etc., are invited to come and experience the Bishops' expression of appreciation for the gift that you are, and the gifts that you bring to our Diocese. Each family attending will receive a special memento to take home and the children will receive a sweet treat.
Please plan to stay a bit after the 8:00 am and 10:00 am Masses next Sunday, April 11. Come over to the cafeteria for coffee and donuts, served to you this month by the PTG. It is a good opportunity to celebrate community spirit and Easter joy in the company of friends and new acquaintances. Remember to park where you will not block anyone, or be blocked by anyone else. The upper parking lot, or Jacob's parking lot are good for this purpose.
After the excitement of the Paschal Vigil is over and the Paschal candle shines brightly and serenely in the church sanctuary, let us take some time to sit quietly at the empty tomb. It is empty. Jesus has risen and ascended and now sits at the right hand of the Father in glory. We come to him in faith and hope, we, too, shall hear him speak our name with presence and a love that will make us, too, cry out from the depths of our being: “Rabboni - Master!”
The Risen Lord does remain with us, and comes to us in many ways and under many guises if we continue to seek him and be attentive to him. The Easter message is one of hope, a hope this world of ours desperately needs. We can bring hope to this world, be a sign of hope in it, if we but allow the Lord to be present to us and then bring the serenity and joy of that Presence in our everyday life. “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:11). Sit quietly at the empty tomb, at the apparent emptiness within, sit with longing, and the Lord will come and speak our name. And we will know that the Lord is risen indeed!
Master, be present to me. Friend, be with us all in our needs.
Easter Blessings and Peace!
Fr. Bud
