Easter Customs

Easter Egg

Christians adopted the egg, which had been a symbol of spring since ancient times, as an obvious symbol of Jesus' Resurrection.  Visit our Easter Egg Page.

Easter Lily

The Easter Lily decorates churches and homes. Its large, white blossoms remind us of the pure new life that comes to us from through the Resurrection of Jesus.

Rabbits are associated with the fertility of spring.
The lamb represents Jesus, the Lamb of God, and relates His death to the lamb sacrificed on the first Passover.
The twisted shape of a pretzel suggests arms crossed in prayer.

Hot Cross Buns

Hot cross buns, which have a cross of icing on the top, were first baked in England to be served on Good Friday.
