St. Margaret of Scotland Parish

 To Jerusalem

Welcome to St. Margaret of Scotland “Walk to Jerusalem”

A virtual prayerful journey from Pittsburgh to Jerusalem (5,970 miles as the crow flies)

  1. This program begins on Sunday, January 23, 2011 and ends on Palm Sunday, April 17, 2011.
  2. It is a virtual walk to Jerusalem, a pilgrimage; we will supply suggested prayers for each week, as well as a Scripture reading.
  3. You are encouraged to use a pedometer to track your miles. If you don’t have a pedometer you can count 20 minutes of sustained physical activity as equal to 1 mile. (The first 100 to register receive a free pedometer)*
  4. Write down your miles each day and keep track on your Weekly Tally Sheet that you keep on your refrigerator or any prominent place in your home.
  5. At the end of each week add up your “miles walked,” cut off the strip for the current week, and place it in the envelope attached to the bulletin board in church or email your miles to: smoswalk@gmail.com
  6. Watch the bulletin board in church for our progress and for information about the cities we will be passing through.
  7. Watch the bulletin for information concerning local planned group “walks” that everyone can attend.
  8. We hope to make it to Jerusalem by Palm Sunday.
  9. After our journey is over we hope that everyone keeps walking and continues to grow healthier in mind, body and spirit!
  10. Register TODAY by emailing us at : smoswalk@gmail.com.

You can download your prayers, tally sheet, scripture meditations for Weeks 1 to 6 and Weeks 7 to 12.  If you don’t have computer access call 412-921-1613.

There is no cost or fee, the first 100 adults to register will receive a free pedometer!

*If you are physically unable to walk with us, 30 minutes of physical therapy, or sitting exercises can be counted as 1 mile.
